Issue Rationale for bids to be awarded as required per FS 287, DOE 6A-1.01 and School Board Policy

a.  Metal Door Replacement County-Wide Bid #08-MA-291 – Bid established for the purchase of labor, materials and equipment to retrofit and replace metal doors in existing jambs.  Eleven (11) bids solicited plus listed on our web site for down load, one (1) bid received, two (2) NO bids and zero (0) bids returned.  The vendor awarded is a sole responsive bidder who meets all specifications.  According to the Consumer Price Index metal products rose more than 7% for the first quarter of 2008 and 4% the prior quarter. Vendors pricing reflex’s a 5% increase over the previous bid that was awarded in May 2006.  Pricing is in line with the market.      

b.  Kitchen with Countertop and Equipment Cabinets County-Wide Bid #09-F-202 – Bid established for the purchase of labor, materials, construction, delivery and handling, installation and warranty of kitchen cabinets with countertop, backsplash / end splash and equipment cabinets.  Fourteen (14) bids solicited plus listed on our web site for down load, five (5) bids received and zero (0) bid returned.  The vendors awarded are the lowest most qualified responsive bidders meeting specifications.   

c.  Warehouse Supply Bid #09-BA-98 – Bid established for the purchase of warehouse supplies at a firm fixed price. Fifty two (52) bids solicited plus listed on our web site for down load, twenty five (25) bids received and fourteen (14) bids returned.  The vendors awarded are the most qualified responsive bidders.  See attachment for exceptions to low bid.
